Pioneer in the field of development and microfinance, he has over 30 years of experience in the development sector and is the founder of many successful institutions such as Grama Vidiyal Microfinance Ltd (GVMFL), Activists for Social Alternatives (ASA), Grama Vidiyal Trust (GVT), Jothi publishers, Vidiyal Matriculation School and Swarnodhayam Credits. All his institutions work with the vision of social development and empowerment of poor and oppressed. He has been the Director of CASHPOR and Asmitha Microfin Limited, two large and well-known Indian MFIs. He has also served as the Chairperson of New Entity for Social Action (NESA), a regional level network of voluntary organizations, and has held various offices in other social networks.
